Def Percussion instrument

One of the most popular percussion instruments is Def which has always been popular for its simple structure and spirit-soothing sound. Originally, the word “Def” is Hebrew and it means “to beat”.
Making, playing, and using this instrument has always been prevalent in different cultures. It has been used in the nations according to its customs and traditions. In some tribes, Def is used as a primary instrument in the ceremonies of surah and entertainment. In other tribes, it is used for war and campaign, while others used it as an instrument for performing religious ceremonies.

 

 

The structure of Def can be divided into the following components:
In the “Definite Argument”[1] about Def, it is said that “Def means a circle on which the skin adheres and the loquacious play”.
The instrument is used in Asia more than anywhere else in the world, and every country uses it which is suitable to its musical mood such as;
 In the third millennium BC, the inhabitants of the Nile Valley (ancient Egypt) performed religious ceremonies in their temples in front of their numerous deities every day with various human voices and instruments, including large circles.
