The Sama has a several thousand years’ history and the first references to the Sama dated back to the time of David the Prophet.
In the Torah verses, it is mentioned that the Sama of David the prophet who “danced for the presence of the God”. In Bible, it’s also mentioned to the Sama of Mary on the altar stairs. In Iran, the earliest examples of Sama are mentioned in “Kings Epic[1]”.
It’s dated back to the time of Khosrow Kiani who was one of the kings of the Kianian dynasty. He performed Sama for five weeks. This way of praying the God which was in good mood, was one of the primary Arya’s culture. After Islam and until 859 AD (245 LC[2]), there was no trace of Sama in Muslim ceremonies. At this year, the Zulnun Mesri (one of the Sufi mystics) allowed his students to form the first Sama session. Shortly thereafter in 867 AD (253 LC), the first Sama ring was erected in Baghdad by Ali Netukhi, a fellow of the abortionist sect.
Among the organizers of the Sama, there are many well-known names such as Zalunun Mesri, Jonaid Baghdadi, Abu Sa'id Abu al-Khair, Ahmad Ghazali, Ein al-Qozat Hamadani, Shams Tabrizi, Uhaddin Kermani, Attar Neishaburi, Molavi, Amir Khosro Dehlavi, and Shah Nematollah Vali. But the importance of Sama for Rumi and the efforts of those who sought after to promote this religion, have been very effective. In this way, Sama's past history has been largely forgotten and it’s attributed to Rumi.
